BANG, Maria
Maria Bang works at the International Unit at the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) where she manages the Sida funded Global Programme on Sustainable Natural Resource Management 2014-2019, of which the Environmental Governance Programme, implemented jointly with UNDP, is one of the sub programmes. Maria has several years of experience of working with Multilateral Environmental Agreements at SEPA and has worked with UNDP in New York as a staff on loan. Prior to this Maria has worked in the private sector with research and development in the waste management sector. Maria holds a MSc in Environmental Chemistry from Umeå University. Despite the technical background, Maria’s passion is in global development, governance and human rights and she is one of the creators of the Swedish government agencies Network for Learning – Capacity Development in Practice (N4L).
BIANCHINI, Flaviano
Flaviano Bianchini is an environmentalist and human rights activist. He hold a master degree in Human Rights and Conflict Prevention and one in Management and Valorization of Natural Resources. He is the founder and the director of Source International, an NGO who focus on impacts caused by extractive industries currently working in 17 countries over 4 continents. He was awarded with The Impact Tech Award in 2016 for the use of Technology to Benefit Humanity and he believes that community monitoring is the best way to avoid and resolve conflicts.
BRETT, Damian
Damian is a Senior Mining Specialist with the World Bank, where he provides support on operational work and policy dialogue with countries and internally; contributes to revenue management and related economic and mining sector analytic work; develops effective partnerships and joint initiatives with industry, government and civil society to extend the reach and impact of the Bank’s mineral sector programs. His key country engagements are Afghanistan, Serbia and Zimbabwe as well as working on the Mining Sector Diagnostic tool. Prior to joining the Bank, Damian worked as a geologist, mineral economist and government official across the mining sector.
AUMEER, Rookayah
Rookayah Aumeer, is a young educator from the Ministry of Education and Human Resources, Tertiary Education and Scientific Research, Mauritius. Rookayah has been promoting quality education with environmental awareness to students in Mauritius.
BRUCH, Carl
Carl Bruch is an international environmental lawyer with more than 20 years of experience. He is the Director of International Programs at the Environmental Law Institute and President of the Environmental Peacebuilding Association. He has conducted research, provided technical and legal assistance, and built capacity across Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, and Eastern Europe, including many conflict-affected countries. His research and technical assistance are primarily in the areas of environmental governance, environmental peacebuilding, and environmental rule of law. He holds a Juris Doctoris from the Northwestern School of Environmental Law of Lewis & Clark College, an MA in physics from the University of Texas-Austin, and a BS in physics (with additional majors in mathematics and anthropology) from Michigan State University.
CEBAN, Ludmila
Ludmila Ceban is project officer at the Rule of Law Programme at Folke Bernadotte Academy, Swedish agency for peace, security and development. Ludmila has background in political science and European public affairs and has previously worked for the Swedish Institute for Public Administration. Ludmila has worked extensively with governance and rule of law programmes addressing service delivery as the main interface between citizens and the state. Over the past years, Ludmila has been engaged in promoting the respect for rule of law principles in local governance in Ukraine and has also been supporting the UNDP-SEPA global programme on strengthening human rights and the rule of law in environmental governance.
GIL, Alexandra
Alexandra Gil is project officer for extractive industries in the UNDP Regional Hub for Latin America and the Caribbean, based in Panama. She provides support and coordinates the research activity on community based participatory environmental monitoring committees in Argentina, Bolivia, Panama, and Peru, in the framework of the UNDP-SEPA project Strengthening Environmental Governance for Sustainable Natural Resource Management. Prior to this assignment, she has worked for the UNDP, UNESCO and the Embassy of Spain in Senegal, Cuba, and Egypt. Alexandra holds a Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Relations of the European Union, College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium).
GOTZMANN, Nora
Nora works as Senior Adviser at the Danish Institute for Human Rights, focusing on business and human rights. She is also an Adjunct Researcher at the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining of the Sustainable Minerals Institute at the University of Queensland, Australia. She has 10 years of experience of working with multinational companies to improve their understanding of human rights risks and impacts and to develop ways of integrating human rights into business practice. Nora's current project and research work focuses on: human rights and impact assessment; capacity building of national human rights institutions on business and human rights; access to remedy; gender; and investment and human rights. Prior to joining DIHR, Nora worked at the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining, where her work focused on human rights due diligence and community-company grievance resolution. She also contributed to the work of the former Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Business and Human Rights Prof. John Ruggie on several topics, including the Corporate Law Tools Project.
HALLE, Silja
Silja Halle is the Coordinator of the Joint UN Environment, UNDP, UN Women and PBSO Programme on Women, Natural Resources and Peace, a programme focused on using natural resource interventions to strengthen the political and economic empowerment of women in conflict prevention and peacebuilding. The programme has projects in Colombia and Sudan. Silja joined UN Environment in 2006 and was previously the organization’s Subprogramme Coordinator for Disasters and Conflicts. In this role she oversaw and guided programme and policy development, designed and oversaw the implementation of monitoring frameworks and worked to build partnerships within and outside the UN system. She is also the co-editor of the UN Environment policy series on the environmental dimensions of conflict & peacebuilding.
ITUARTE-LIMA, Claudia
Dr. Claudia Ituarte-Lima is international environmental law adviser at SwedBio and researcher at Stockholm Resilience Center. Dr. Ituarte-Lima holds a PhD (University College London), MPhil (University of Cambridge), and a Law Degree (Iberoamericana University). For more than 15 years, she has specialized in the human rights, biodiversity, climate law nexus both in theory and practice. Her focus is on law and governance for sustainability and environmental justice and the transformation of international law into new governance forms at the national and local scales. Her methodology ranges from extensive on-the ground fieldwork especially in Africa and Latin America, to studies examining the interactions of international regimes on human rights and environmental law. Claudia acts as expert advisor for the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), and the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights and Environment.
JACOBSSON, Marie
Marie Jacobsson is the Principal Legal Adviser on International Law at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. She is a Member of the Swedish Women’s Mediation Network and appointed Special Representative for Inclusive Peace Processes. Marie served as a Member of the United Nations International Law Commission (ILC) between 2007-2016. She was appointed Special Rapporteur for the topic Protection of the Environment in Relation to Armed Conflicts in 2013 and presented three subsequent reports to the Commission (2014, 2015 and 2016).The focus of her work at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs is on international peace and security matters and regional security affairs. She takes an interest in matters relating to peaceful settlement of disputes. She is Member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, arbitrator under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, arbitrator under the Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty, and Alternate Arbitrator, Court of Conciliation and Arbitration within the OSCE. Alongside her work at the MFA, Marie has maintained a deep and ongoing commitment to academic issues. She is also Associate Professor of International Law at Lund University, Sweden.
JEREZ, Cesar
César Jerez is a geologist, leader of the movement for the consolidation of rural peasant reserve zones and of the National Association of Peasant Reserve Areas – ANZORC . Since 1998 he has been working with peasants social organizations promoting rural development and the improvement of peasant economies. In 2010 he and his community won in Colombia the National Peace Prize awarded by the UNDP and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation for its efforts for the defense of life and territory, its agricultural vocation, the protection of the environment, and the struggle for decent housing and access to health, education and justice.
KRAMPE, Florian
Dr Florian Krampe is a Researcher in SIPRI’s Climate Change and Risk Programme, specializing in peace and conflict research, environmental and climate security, and international security. His primary academic interest is the foundations of peace and security, especially the processes of building peace after armed conflict. He is currently focusing on climate security and the post-conflict management of natural resources, with a specific interest in the ecological foundations for a socially, economically and politically resilient peace. Dr Krampe is an Affiliated Researcher at the Research School for International Water Cooperation at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University.
KROKSNES, Ingunn
Ingunn has been a senior advisor at the Oil for Development Program in the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) since 2015. She has 14 years years of previous experience in the petroleum industry (Norsk Hydro and Statoil), responsibilities within social and environmental risk management, social investments, and business integrity/anti-corruption. Ingunn started her career in UNDP, developing a global civil society program for the policy division at headquarters in New York, thereafter 2 years at the country office in Havana, following up the environment program portfolio. Ingunn is a political scientist with specialisation in international affairs, development studies, environment and climate policies.
LESMES, Felipe
Felipe Lesmes holds a bachelor in economics and a MSc in Social Policy and Development. He is currently working at the UNDP Colombia country office as an Advocacy Specialist for Environmental Policy where he assist the implementation of projects related to the reduction of social-environmental impacts of the extractive industry, a topic that, he believes, is essential to the sustainability of peace in the country.
LEXEN, Tove
Tove Lexén is vice president of PUSH Sweden, the sustainability network for young people in Sweden. Besides her board assignment she is also part of the organisation’s international group and took part of the SB 48 in Bonn this spring. At the SB48 she was primarily involved in YOUNGO’s gender working group. Tove’s involvement in climate and environment dates to 2013 when she was regional president of the youth organisation of Swedish Society for Nature Conservation. The organisation has been deeply involved on the issue of sustainable mining in Sweden. Tove received a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science with a particular focus on International Relations from Uppsala University.
MARQUEZ, Dalia
Dalia Fernanda Márquez Añez is from Táchira state, Venezuela. She is lawyer specialized in environmental law. She is a professor of Environmental Law, Theory of Integration and Globalization, and International Relations and Organizations in the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of the Catholic University of Tachira. She is the Secretary-General of Youth United in Action, an NGO that she founded in 2013. She is also the Global Focal Point of Sustainable Consumption and Production to the UN MGCY, and Regional Representative from Civil Society to UNEP as part of the Latin American Engagement Mechanism of Civil Society.

Tania Daniela Martínez Roa is a Colombian Civil and Environmental Engineer. She is a graduate teaching assistant at the Engineering and Construction Management Research Group (IN2GECO).
MUTUKU, Kaluki
Kaluki Mutuku is a young environmental conservation and natural resources manager at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. He has a passion for environmental communication; he is a leader at 350 Kenya Power Shift, a climate advocacy & campaign organization. Kaluki is also an environmental writer.
PETERSEN, Inga
Inga Petersen works as a Senior Extractives Advisor with UN Environment where she works on the strategy development, programme design and stakeholder engagement for Map-X, an online mapping platform to support the sustainable use of natural resources and improve access to information. Before joining UN Environment, Inga obtained an Executive Master in Global Leadership at the World Economic Forum (WEF), an international organisation for public-private cooperation. As Senior Manager for the Mining & Metals industries, she was responsible for the relationship management of major mining and metals partner companies and the agenda and programming for industry specific events. She also led the implementation of the Responsible Mineral Development Initiative. Prior to this, Inga worked as Senior Manager in the Extractive Industries of Adam Smith International where she worked directly with governments and donors, designing and managing extractive industries governance projects across Africa, including Sierra Leone, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon.
PUYANA, Jimena
Jimena Puyana is an ecologist and holds master’s degrees in Rural Development and in Strategic Environmental Assessment. Her experience has focused on the management and conservation of biodiversity in rural areas, and has advised the National Government on topics related to biodiversity and climate change. She is currently the National Manager of Sustainable Development at the UNDP Colombia country office, from where she has leaded projects for climate change adaptation and mitigation, biodiversity and ecosystem services management and the implementation of a set of environmental initiatives for peacebuilding and peace sustainability.
QUINN, Shane
Shane Quinn is a senior consultant with over fifteen years of experience working on conflict prevention and the rule of law, covering public administration and justice sector reform in transition and fragile states. He has a multi-disciplinary background and holds a Masters in Peace and Conflict Studies from Uppsala University, Sweden, as well as a Masters in History from the National University of Ireland. He has worked extensively as an NGO advisor supporting civil society participation in peacebuilding processes in Somalia, DR Congo and Sudan and was later based at the Swedish government agency for peace and security, Folke Bernadotte Academy where he designed and led a number of rule of law projects in countries in Eastern Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa. He has conducted research on the importance of taking a more politically smart approach to rule of law programmes and collaborated closely with a number of multilateral actors, such as UNDP, OECD and the EEAS in developing policy and programme tools for supporting rule of law reform processes in transitional contexts. In 2017, he joined the International Legal Assistance Consortium in Stockholm as its Director of Programmes covering Syria and the MENA region.
RICHARD, Noëlla
Noëlla Richard manages Youth Global Programme for Sustainable Development and Peace (Youth-GPS, 2016-2020). She is the co-chair of the Inter-Agency Working Group on Youth & the 2030 Agenda and also represents UNDP in the Working Group on Young People’s Participation in Peacebuilding. She previously served in UNDP’s Democratic Governance Group, focusing on Public Administration, Local Governance, Women’s Leadership and Gender Equality and other Governance issues. Prior to UNDP, she worked with a broad range of entities, including the French Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UNESCO, Paris Economic Council for Sustainable Development and UNDP in Morocco. She was educated in France, Morocco, Spain and Argentina and is a graduate from Sciences Po Paris and Sorbonne University. Noëlla is interested in exploring how we could more effectively recognise, promote and support young people’s positive contribution to environmental governance and natural resource management and she looks forward to facilitating the discussion on and with youth.
SCOTT, Tim
Tim Scott serves as Senior Policy Advisor on Environment for the Sustainable Development Cluster with the Bureau of Policy and Programme Support for the United Nations Development Programme in New York. He is responsible for ensuring synergies between the work of the Environment and Natural Capital Team, which he leads and other areas of environmental programming and UNDP’s broader work on the social, economic and governance dimensions of sustainable development. In addition to providing policy and programme support to UNDP’s evolving environmental and sustainable development portfolio, Tim oversees UNDP’s inclusive green economy and emerging environmental governance work, and represents UNDP in inter-agency mechanisms including the Environment Management Group. Tim has published on environment and sustainable development themes including climate change, migration, and human security, and served as Assistant Editor for the Journal of Human Development (2006-2009). He received BA and MA degrees with high honors from the Universities of New Hampshire and Virginia.
