Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is an important mining country that draws the world's attention in the energy transition. The extraction of rare minerals such as cobalt, lithium, and coltan, of which the DRC is the world's leading producer, forms the foundation of the national economy but also poses a serious environmental threat.
The EGP presents itself as a solution concerning Participatory Environmental Monitoring (PEM) by involving local communities through civil society. Working with PEM could be a way to reduce conflicts between local stakeholders through monitoring and information.
