The self-paced course on gender in mining governance compiles research from leading institutions in the industry to build awareness and skills in regard to women's empowerment and gender equality in the mining sector. The course is free and available in English, French, and Spanish. It is organized in partnership with the with the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) and UNDP's Learning for Nature Programme.

The online course builds on the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) organized in 2021 and 2020, which brought together over 3,000 participants from 133 countries, including representatives of governments, mining companies and civil society organizations working towards the promotion of gender equality in the mining industry.
According to a course survey, 97.5% of graduates reported they will use knowledge generated from the course to influence policy going forward. The 2021 edition of the MOOC was offered in English, French and Spanish. The first edition of the MOOC was offered in English and Spanish from November 2 to December 6, 2020.
