The joint Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and UNDP Environmental Governance Programme (EGP) supports ten resource-rich countries to strengthen the governance of the mining sector through integrating human rights and the environment.

Colombia, Peru, Namibia, Zambia, Ecuador, Liberia, Mongolia have improved knowledge, data, practices, frameworks, and capacities for addressing Gender Equality and Women’s Rights issues in mining.
Namibia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Liberia have strengthened capabilities to integrate environmental and social concerns into Mine Closure and Rehabilitation, including participatorily developed evaluation tools for governments for uranium and zinc closure plans.
