The workshop brought together the four EGP programme countries, namely: Colombia, Mongolia, Mozambique and Kenya, to share updates, and reflect on results, good practices and lessons learned from both the EGP and partner initiatives, including validation of findings from the EGP external evaluation.
The workshop's facilitator was Gillian Martin Mehers, Director of Bright Green Learning.
The workshop was held back to back with the 14th Annual General Meeting of the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals, and Sustainable Development (IGF-AGM).
Share updates, and reflect on results, good practices and lessons learned from both the Environmental Governance Programme (EGP) and partner initiatives, including validation of findings from the EGP evaluation.
Further shape the design of the next phase, including validation of scope, priority themes, main entry points, and partners.

Extracting Good Practices: A Guide for Governments and Partners to Integrate Environment and Human Rights into the Governance of the Mining Sector was co-launched by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and UNDP on June 12, 2018, in Stockholm.
This joint Global Guide seeks to support governments and other stakeholders to better manage the environmental, social and human rights aspects of mining in a way that rebalances relations in favour of more just and sustainable outcomes that benefit the country and local communities, including women and children, now and in the future.
This publication also supports government authorities to actively engage the affected public to participate in rulemaking, licensing, and monitoring of the mining sector.
The EGP is a joint initiative of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and UNDP.
The EGP currently provides targeted support to four countries: Colombia, Kenya, Mongolia, and Mozambique. The programme also works at the global and regional level to strengthen knowledge sharing and support the exchange of innovative policy approaches within and across countries and regions.
